More we shape, more people touch them.
Masaki Yasuda is our only shaper. He was born in 1972 and raised in suburban area of Tokyo.
From a childhood, he loved playing by himself with making things and interested in hand work.
He started mountaineering with his friend in his teens then his interests goes to other activities like biking or sky diving. After graduated high school, he started helping his father as a plumber and during then, he finally met climbing.
This encounter was definitely the turning point to his life.
UNDER BLUE HOLD
The brand started in 2007 by Masaki as an enthusiastic climber.
He was feeling uncomfortable with the closed atmosphere of climbing gyms in old time, he and his friends built a small climbing wall at the attic of one of their friends' houses.
Back in then, there were poor variation of climbing hold brand available in Japan and those were very expensive.
So naturally, he started manufacturing climbing holds by himself.
He started with PE holds and added plywood volumes. Without enough information, his tries errors gradually his holds spread to gyms in Japan.
This process couldn't be written in a very short sentence but his passion and curiosity for making climbing holds stay the same till today.

Climbing hold is what we grasp with our own hands. So we shape it with our own hands.
UNDER BLUE HOLD have all kinds of holds, hand holds, plywood volumes and macro holds.
Macro hold such as our iconic shape TUNA series gathers a lot of interest from setters or climbers but our hand holds and plywood volumes are quite familiar to gyms in Japan.
Now the number of gyms up to over 150 use our products.
At the same time, our products, especially plywood volumes contributed to a development of Japanese competition scenes such as Bouldering Japan Cup, Lead Japan Cup and Japan Games.
